Below is a review of The Rise of Network Culture by Kazys Varnelis written by Olgert Nazarko.

The more mature internet and mobile telephony are becoming, the more our society is affected and transformed. The network culture is becoming a historic phenomenon. Technology is radically changing our everyday life. Network as a concept is evolving the economy, public sphere and culture. Smartphones are not just the latest trend, but their services are changing our routine, we can connect with people in distance, share and get more information, pay bills, access our work files etc. Digital culture is not just a new way of getting information; according to Charlie Gere it is a socioeconomic phenomenon instead of merely a technology. Gere states that digitalization is the key process of capitalism, because it enables the capital to be deployed faster. In nowadays beside the human resources in a company, the information is considered an immaterial important asset and the production of information dominates economies today.

According to Varnelis the current growth of networked publics is grounded in the spread of digital technologies and networks. Accessibility is a major drawback when it comes to distributed networks such as internet or cable offerings and I think transformations are required for these businesses to be still profitable in the years to come. Cable companies will start losing customers in the near future, because of the TV shifting to internet and a lot of YouTube channels are created now as a trend. Cable companies no longer will be in the market because of the shift, they should find innovative ways to generate money rather than by subscription when you are obligated to choose one of their plans and when you don’t need all the channels, because the users right now are very selective.  The distribution of networking infrastructure is becoming increasingly pervasive and varied. Youtube is trending a lot of channels that in the near future is going to cost to the users, but I think Youtube is already very profitable by the advertisements and keeping all the user for free is generating millions to the company. The cable companies should follow the same strategy in my opinion, users in nowadays are shifting from the TV towards internet, they can access their favorite shows online rather than standing in front of the television. In my opinion accessibility is the main stream to make every company very profitable. The more people have access on your services more reliable customers the business will have, and more adds will be distributed to the end-users. Distribution and accessibility go together and are the keys to a successful business in nowadays.
Dr. Varnelis is a historian of late modern and contemporary architecture and has written extensively on the Internet and network culture. He was senior researcher at the Annenberg Center for Communication and worked on a year-long research project on Networked Publics

 Interview Questions

This interview I have done with my nephew Menty 17 years old was conducted in English and Albanian language.
Some of the questions that we have discussed are: ( the culture background is specific)
How old where you when you had your first cellphone and computer?
How much time you spend everyday with your electronic devices?
What are the social medias you use most and why?
How using social media help you?
Because he is my nephew our conversation will focus more in the direction how digital media will help him in school and in his social life ( this part is a bit challenging, he is little more reserved for answers).
What the school's policy says about using cellphone?
How he deals with distraction or cheating using the cellphone in class( in this case he or his classmates can be subject of this question)?
Can you describe how using social media has helped you or your friends in communication with each other?
I know you have a Facebook account why did you block me?
The answer is:
I don't want to give up my privacy.

Moodle vs edX

In my YouTube I tried to explain what an Open Source Technology is and how this technology is changing E-learning. After taking a look at the advantages and drawbacks of OST has, I tried to explain what Moodle Platform offers and what edX platform is. In my presentation I crossed a very debatable argument such as edX MooC and the future of higher education.
